Manufacturing Jewelers & Suppliers of America has released a new publication as part of its “Safe & Secure” outreach program. Safety Solutions, the organization’s latest training manual, is set to become the industry standard for safety compliance issues. It covers the most common types of violations found in jewelry shops and offers advice on correcting hazards and providing safe working conditions.
Among the manual’s 15 chapters are sections on hazard communications, creating an injury and illness prevention program, and ensuring bench, casting, and chemical safety. It also identifies solutions to common building code, fire safety, and hazardous materials violations. MJSA also plans to publish supplements that outline local codes for cities with high concentrations of jewelry producers: Chicago, Dallas, New York, and Providence, R.I.
The manual costs $25 for members and $45 for nonmembers. For information, call MJSA at (800) 444-6572, e-mail: mjsa@mjsainc.com.
MJSA’s “Safe & Secure” program is partially funded by the JCK Jewelry Industry Fund and the MJSA Education Foundation.
