This bench jeweler’s guide covers working with jewelry featuring Charles & Colvard created moissanite (hereafter referred to as “moissanite”). Part one covered identification, general service, and repair considerations for moissanite jewelry. This article covers general moissanite setting considerations.
Moissanite has a hardness of 9.25 on the Mohs scale and is exceptionally tough, making it an ideal jewel for setting procedures. Moissanite does have a cleavage direction and—like a diamond—can chip if standard setting procedures are not followed.
