The luxury watch business gave out its top awards for 2004 on Nov. 11. The “Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève” ceremonies were held in Geneva, Switzerland.
Winners in the annual jury-judged event were:
* Top prize, the “Prix de L’Aiguille d’Or” (the Golden Hand) went to François-Paul Journe for his Tourbillion Souverain à seconde morte (Souverain Tourbillion with independent seconds).
* The Jury Prize went to Lange & Söhne for its Lange Double Split
* The Lady’s Watch Prize went to Girard-Perregaux for its Cat’s Eye collection.
* The Men’s Watch Prize was given to two brands—Patek Philippe for its Gondolo Calendario watch (Reference 5135) and Zenith, for its Grande ChronoMaster Open El Primero timepiece.
* The Prize in Watch Design went to TAG Heuer’s digital Monaco Sixty Nine.
* The Ultra Flat Watch Award was won by Blancpain’s Villeret extraplate.
* The Prize for Technical Innovation and Complication was awarded to Jaeger-LeCoultre for its Grande Complication Gyrotourbillon.
* The Sports Watch Award went to Panerai’s Luminor Submersible 2500M.
* The Public Prize was awarded to Franck Muller’s Color Dreams with centered seconds.
* The Middle East Public’s Prize was given to Vacheron Constantin for its Patrimony timepiece, a homage to great sea explorers.
