The American Assay & Gemological Office announced two appointments: Donna DeLucia to director of sales, and Donna Beaton to manager of gemological laboratory services/senior gemologist. DeLucia, who has 15 years of industry sales experience, is responsible for all sales efforts in support of quality assurance services, including both precious metal testing and AnchorCert Gem Identification Services, and has prior experience with Robbins Diamonds in Newark, Del. Beaton was senior gemologist at the American Gem Trade Association Gemological Testing Center in New York for five years , specializing in colored stones and pearls, and has experience with Tiffany & Co., Fred Leighton, and Phillips Auction Gallery.
Cartier has announced the appointment of Sharon Thomson to serve as director of the company’s Chicago boutique, where she will be responsible for daily operations. Prior to joining Cartier, Thomson was president of C.D. Peacock, a fine jeweler in Chicago. She also has 10 years’ experience in the banking industry.
Angiolina Marotto has joined the retail sales team at H&H Jewels, Coconut Grove, Fla. Marotto has been in the retail business for more than a decade and spent the last nine years selling high-end jewelry, timepieces, and luxury goods. Amiel Weisblum has joined Color Story as creative director, responsible for the marketing and advertising departments. Weisblum, who graduated summa cum laude from the Fashion Institute of Technology, will be in charge of branding and developing promotional materials.
Teresa Shannon has joined the staff of Manufacturing Jewelers & Suppliers of America in the combined positions of membership development manager and director of the MJSA Jewelry Academy. In the former role, she will be responsible for overseeing member services and activities and will represent the association to regional, national, and international organizations; government agencies; and the industry at large. In the latter role, she will be responsible for establishing the direction of the academy, determining the course to be offered, writing and developing curricula, and promoting the academy within the industry. Shannon was formerly the director of the Texas Institute for Jewelry Technology at Paris Junior College in Paris, Texas.
Sterling Jewelers Inc., the U.S. operations of Signet Group plc, has promoted Paul Kronick to vice president of special orders, merchandising. In his new role, Kronick is responsible for working with the special orders team and assisting stores with customer requests for merchandise as well as providing timely responses to stores’ inquiries.
Adam Cohen has joined Buxbaum Group as an appraisal analyst. Cohen, a 2004 graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara, held internships at two consumer products industry companies while attending college.
