The 2005 Niche Awards, presented by Niche magazine during the Philadelphia Buyers Market of American Crafts, honored several jewelry designers. The awards recognize outstanding creative achievements of American and Canadian craft artists. The winners this year were: Lynda Bahr, San Gregorio, Calif., in the gold with stones category; Cynthia Eid, Lexington, Mass., in the silver with stones category; William Richie, Portland, Maine, and Jacqueline Sanchez, Atlanta, tied in the fashion jewelry category; Amy Roper Lyons, New Providence, N.J., in the gold jewelry category; Hilary Hachey, Baltimore, in the silver jewelry category; and Chihiro Makio, Somersville, Mass., in the sculpture to wear category.
