David Cornstein has been elected the new chairman of the board of the Jewelers Security Alliance, the organization announced at its annual luncheon. He replaces Walter Fischer, who retired from the position.

Cornstein, the chairman-emeritus of Finlay Enterprises, has also served as head of Off-Track-Betting and of New York State’s 2012 Olympic campaign. He has been a JSA board member for eight years.

Efraim Grinberg, president and chief executive officer of the Movado Group, retired from the board after 16 years of service.

The organization presented its Eighth Annual James B. White Law Enforcement Award to FBI special agent Daniel X. McCaffrey, for his help in fighting jewelry-related crime.

The first annual JSA Industry Service Award went to George Slicho, senior vice president for loss prevention for Zale Corp.

Mark Mershon, assistant director of the FBI, gave the keynote address and talked of the improving relations between the New York FBI office and local law enforcement.

JSA president John J. Kennedy said the heavy FBI presence at the lunch showed “the growing partnership between FBI, local law enforcement, the jewelry industry, and the JSA.”
