• The India International Jewellery Show is set for May 4–8 at the NSE Complex, Goregaon (East), Mumbai, India. Now in its 23rd year, IIJS has grown to be the second-largest jewelry show in Asia and is among the top five jewelry trade exhibitions in the world. The 2006 event will host 700 exhibitors and is expected to welcome approximately 25,000 buyers.
• Éclat de Mode, the French fashion exhibition of which the Bijorhca jewelry fair is a part, hosted 10,756 buyers. The event was held Feb. 2–5 in Paris. Fair organizers noted an increase in visitors coming from Italy, Belgium, and the United States, as well as a significant jump in the number of buyers from the Middle East. Fine-jewelry retailers accounted for 7.4 percent of visitors; fashion jewelry retailers, 36.1 percent.
• The Istanbul Jewelry Show I, held March 22–26 in Turkey, doubled its number of Italian exhibitors, thanks to an agreement between Vicenza Fiera International, a company managed by the organizers of the Vicenza jewelry fairs to promote the fair abroad, and Rotaforte, the organizers of IJS. The Turkish show, now in its 22nd year, is a popular event for wholesalers and major retailers.
