Tourneau, the world’s largest watch retailer, announced two joint ventures at the BaselWorld fair.
First, it’s joining with the Swatch Group of Switzerland, the world’s largest watchmaker, to open a chain of watch stores, also under the Tourneau name, in several U.S. luxury outlet malls (including those near New York City; Los Angeles; Las Vegas; and Orlando, Fla.). The stores will carry a number of brands, including some from the Swatch Group, but specific ones weren’t announced at press time.
Second, it inked an agreement with Hong Kong watchmaker and distributor Peace Mark and International Watch Group, a U.S. watch distributor, to form Peace Mark Tourneau, which will distribute luxury-brand timepieces throughout the “greater China market.” Over the next five years, it will open 30 luxury watch stores under the Tourneau name in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan.
