Eugen Schofer GmbH & Co. K.G., Pforzheim, Germany, took over Theodor Wilhelm Herbstrith GmbH, a gold jewelry manufacturer also based in Pforzheim, on June 1.
Schofer is a leading manufacturer of chain. Herbstrith is known for high-end, hand-worked jewelry and chains. Both companies were founded in 1904.
In the past, Herbstrith focused primarily on markets in Central Europe, but Axel Kohlhammer, Schofer’s senior director, said Schofer plans to market it as an international brand in the luxury segment and launch it to markets outside Europe, including Asia, the United States, Russia, and the Middle East.
The Herbstrith brand will continue to be managed as an independent company led by Mathias Kohlhammer and supported by current Herbstrith managing director Jürgen Bender and representative Brigitte Härdt until the end of this year. All current Herbstrith employees will be remaining in their posts.
