TanzaniteOne Ltd, the tanzanite mining and marketing firm, has named two new sightholders, AG Color, of New York, and Paul Wild, of Germany.
Adding the sightholders is in accordance with TanzaniteOne’sPreferred Supply Strategy, announced in February 2005, and brings the total number of sightholders to eight.
Paul Wild (www.paul-wild.de)was founded in 1926 and has branches in Germany, Thailand, Brazil, and Africa.
AG Color (www.agcolor.com)is a fourth-generation company that distributes fine-quality gemstones. Its offices are located in New York. AG Color has won both first- and second-place awards in the American Gem Trade Association Spectrum Awards in pairs and suites for the past two consecutive years.
The six other sightholders are ColorJewels, New York; InterColor, New York; KL Tambi, New York and Jaipur; Rare Multicolor Gems, New York; STS, New York; and Tanzanite International, New York.
The Preferred Supply Strategy focuses on “growing the global market for tanzanite” with limited brokers. These are companies TanzaniteOne considers “key stakeholders, or distribution partners.”
In a process that is similar to De Beers’ distribution of rough diamonds, sightholders attending TanzaniteOne’s viewings of parcels of rough tanzanite benefit from a steady supply of goods as well as consistent prices.
