Purple Jewelry and Gems at Bangkok Fair

The Purple Evolution exhibition at the upcoming Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair will include jewelry made with purple gold and amethysts by some of Thailand’s top jewelry designers and a special purple sapphire exhibit.

The creations will be displayed at Sala Design pavilion for avant-garde designs. The gallery debuts for the 41st edition of the trade fair, being held Feb. 27 to March 2 in the Impact Challenger exhibition hall.

Highlights of the new area include:

* A display of rare purple sapphires from Madagascar in various cuts.

* The “Tree of Siam” made of purple gold with the touch of Thai. It will the ability of Thai scientists’ success in being able to make purple gold strong yet soft enough to withstand shaping into jewelry pieces while being less reactive to contaminants.

In addition, Thailand’s top jewelry houses will present a collection of some 15 newly-crafted jewelry pieces. They include

* An Amethyst-diamond necklaces in the elaborate shapes of “lace” and “Rachawadee Flower” by Beauty Gems’ managing director Suriyon Sriorathaikul’s.

The Dragon Fish created by Pranda Jewelry’s Pairoj Panyarith that uses silky lines of gold interwoven with Amethysts to form the scale of the mythical half-dragon-half-fish mythical creature.

“Russian Hills” and “Precious Claw” rings, made of 18K white gold with Amethysts in the center by Jacques Prades of Gamma Creation.

“It heightens BGJF’s platform as a world-class gallery to see the latest and unique collections of finest and award-winning jewelry which have already been presented through the Elite Creation and Hot New Design show sections,” said BGJF chief executive officer Somchai Phornchindarak.
