Officials representing the Southwest Fine Jewelry Show said in an email that the annual jewelry trade show held at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center has shut down for good. The next show, which was scheduled for Sept. 6-8, has been canceled.
The brief note reads as follows:
“Dear Industry Friends –
The Southwest Fine Jewelry Show has come to an end. This year’s show has been cancelled and all our wonderful committed vendors have been informed.
This note is a simple THANK YOU. To you, the vendors exhibiting and the retailers attending as well as the many other show supporters.
We bid you all a fond adieu and wish you the best of continued industry success.
Sincerely,
Janisue Rigel
Janisue Rigel and her team at Southwest Fine Jewelry Show”
Rigel spoke with JCK Tuesday, saying it was difficult to end relationships with long-time vendors to the show. Some of the vendors had difficult time believing the show has closed. She said she had been calling as many people as possible.
“The vendors all so sweet, you cannot imagine,” Rigel said. “We gave back every bit of money to the vendors. The vendors had no loss. We absorbed all the cost.”
She added, “It was time to close the curtain.”
