For the second year, the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts will offer a complete scholarship for a three-day class to the winner of its new scholarship contest.
The winner can chose from about eighty short classes offered each year in a range of subjects, including fabrication, design and setting.
The scholarship contest is open to anyone who has not attended the Revere Academy before. The winner receives full tuition plus airfare from anywhere in the U.S. as well as lodging, and kit fees. Applications call for a statement of why the applicant wants to attend the Revere Academy and examples of previous artwork or handwork in any medium.
“This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in making jewelry, no matter what level they are at right now,” says director and founder, Alan Revere. “Students learn an incredible amount from professionals who are eager to share their skills. No previous jewelry experience is required, just the motivation to learn.”
Last year’s winner, Debbie Fehrenbach was flown in from her home in St. Johns, Mich., and put up at a nearby hotel in downtown during her class.
“I learned more than I ever expected in just three days! And it was a distinct honor to work so closely with Alan Revere,” Fehrenbach said.
The Academy will accept on-line applications till Oct. 1 and the winner will be announced Nov. 1. For more details, visit www.revereacademy.com.
