The Conference Board’s Consumer Confidence Index fell in
July, its second straight decline. It’s now 50.4, down from June’s 54.3.
Meanwhile, the ICSC-Goldman Sachs chain store sales index
from the International Council of Shopping Centers rose 0.6 percent for the
week ending July 24. Year-over-year, retail sales were up 3.8 percent.
