At the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards on Aug. 29 in Los Angeles, platinum almost stole the spotlight from the trophy-winning stars. Kyra Sedgwick, named best actress for her turn as a syrupy-Southern-accented investigator on The Closer, piled on platinum gemstone bracelets, a platinum ring with a 60 ct. rubellite, and blackened-platinum earrings by Ofira Schwartz. Dancing With the Stars alum Kelly Osbourne sparkled in Martin Katz diamond and platinum earrings and bracelets. Then there was Mad Men’s January Jones, whose asymmetrical Versace gown had fashion critics in a tizzy. But hidden beneath her bed-head ’do: $1.2 million Cartier diamond and platinum earrings. ‘Glee’ Girls Gone Wild The success of Fox’s singing sitcom Glee has given its young actresses license to go red-carpet crazy, for better and for worse. Emmy nominee Lea Michele kept up her best-dressed streak with a flamenco-esque navy Oscar de la Renta gown and major Lorraine Schwartz multicolored diamonds (check out the bib-style necklace!). Costar Naya Rivera didn’t fare as well in the couture category in a teal Simin bubble-bottom gown. But we love the pin placement. ‘Dancing’ Queens Before kicking off season 11 of Dancing With the Stars, ballroom pro Cheryl Burke and judge Carrie-Ann Inaba glammed up for the Emmys. We’re so used to seeing Burke in rhinestones, sequins, fringe, and feathers that we almost didn’t recognize the two-time champ in a blush Enzoani sweetheart-neck gown and Sutra rose-cut cuff and diamond earrings. Meanwhile, Inaba kept it basic in a black David Meister dress and a Victorian-style ring and earrings from Indian jeweler Amrapali.
