An exquisite diamond ring once owned by Ruth and Bernie
Madoff could soon be yours according to the United States Marshals Service,
which is scheduled to auction off numerous valuables, including fine jewelry, once
owned by the pair.
Among the jewels is a 10.54 cts. t.w. emerald-cut diamond—VS2
in clarity and F in color—center stone in a handmade platinum mounting with two
baguette diamonds with a total weight of .90 cts. flanking each side. The
center stone bears the certificate No. 8376741 from the Gemological Institute
of America.
More than 400 pieces of personal property, including fine jewelry,
from Bernard L. Madoff and wife, Ruth, will be sold during a live and an online
auction in New York City on November 13, 2010. Organized by the United States
Marshals Service, the property was forfeited and seized in connection with the
criminal prosecution of Bernard L. Madoff by the United States Attorney’s
Office in the Southern District of New York. Proceeds will be deposited into
the United States Department of Justice Asset Forfeiture Fund to compensate the
victims of this multi-billion dollar fraud.
