Nearly 100 people attended the third annual Portland Jewelry
Symposium at the Governor Hotel in Portland, Ore., on Oct. 25.
The one-day educational event hosted eight speakers
presenting topics tailored to custom retailers including CAD/CAM, small business management, bench techniques, and alternative metals. The attendance almost doubled last year’s
turnout.
“Custom jewelry is really having its coming of age in the
digital era,” said PJS founder Teresa Fryé in a statement.
“Today’s consumer has come to expect something uniquely personal in fine
jewelry, and technology has now made it possible for a broad range of retailers
to offer the custom choice.”
