The Henry Dunay company will launch a new line in February—without the 74-year-old designer. The original Henry Dunay Designs filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last June; its intellectual property was acquired by Sandawana Holdings. “The designs will be in line with the vision and artistry of the designer, with a strong focus on special gemstones,” said the new Sandawana-backed company in a statement.
Meanwhile, Dunay himself started a new brand, New York City–based HDDI, in September. He’s making “brooches, earrings, pins—important things,” on an individual-order basis. “I have a bunch of stores that are asking me to design for them,” he says. “But I need to build up inventory first.”
