Alabama Jeweler Barton Snow Dies

Barton Sperry Snow, co-owner of Barton-Clay Fine Jewelers in
Mountain Brook, Ala.
, died Aug. 17 at age 63. No other information was
available.

A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Snow and partner Eric
Clay McClain founded the store in 1987.

“The sort of store that Eric and I envisioned for ourselves
was one where customers would walk in, and we’d take care of them as only
friends possibly could,” Snow said, according to his store’s site.

In 1995, it moved to a new location, with double its
previous showroom space.

Snow was a board member of Children’s Harbor, a group that
helps seriously ill children and their families. In lieu of flowers, the family requests
contributions be made to Children’s Harbor or to the charity of your choice.

Snow is survived by daughter Carrie Snow Cearlock, two grandsons,
and two brothers.
