Pomellato Reimagines Some ’90s-Era Best Sellers

Share

A lot of great things hailed from, or had their heyday, in the 1990s: choker necklaces, Lisa Frank school supplies, NSYNC—and for Italian jewelry house Pomellato, signature collections named Mora and Mosaico.

Mora (the Italian word for blackberry) was a line of jewels featuring blackberry-esque clusters of stones, with bubble-shaped cabochons of aquamarine, garnet, citrine, and other gems displayed on chunky, very now bands of yellow gold.

Mosaico, too, used cabochons, only they were arranged—as the name implies—in mosaic style, nestled tightly four to a ring to form one large stone, given texture by the peaks and valleys of each individual gem.

Just like some other beloved fashions of the ’90s era, Mora and Mosaico have come back. Pomellato has reimagined these marvelous collections for life in the mid-2020s. The brand’s Memorie d’Archivio (that’s Italian for archival memories) Mora and Mosaico collections debuted last October in Milan and were shown in Paris in November.

The newest Mora and Mosaico pieces honor the originals beautifully, preserving the heavy metal (this time it’s rose gold), statement ring size, and rich, succulent color. Compared with their predecessors, these rings’ gemstones are arranged in a way that’s a bit more streamlined—softer, tightened up.

We also find gemstones not previously used in the collections—rutilated quartz, tiger’s eye, red jasper, turquoise, and black marble, among others—on the new Mora pieces. They have pavé diamonds as well.

“With Mora and Mosaico, I wanted to reintroduce two of Pomellato’s greatest successes that are particularly dear to me, using materials that have become increasingly interesting to us—mineral gemstones,” said Pomellato’s creative director Vincenzo Castaldo in a statement.

Not only is the new series covetable for its instant icon aura, rarity is also a hot selling point. Memorie D’Archivio consists of 24 one-of-a-kind rings, sure to pique the interest of collectors (and anyone with a pulse). Ten pieces from the collection will go on sale in the U.S. this month, at locations yet to be determined by Pomellato.
