U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Champlain, N.Y., port of entry have seized multiple shipments of counterfeit Tiffany jewelry for trademark infringement.
From December 2024 to Jan. 6, 2025, CBP officers inspected several separate shipments that contained what appeared to be high-end jewelry, the agency said. After examination, the shipments were determined to be full of fake Tiffany & Co. pieces.
The items were seized for intellectual property rights violations. If they were genuine, the jewels would be valued around $29,990, based on their manufacturer suggested retail price.
In 2023, CBP seized nearly $654 million worth of counterfeit jewelry, making it the second-largest category of goods the agency seized for copyright/trademark infringement during the year. Watches were third, at almost $407 million, while handbags were first.
The agency urges anyone who has information about counterfeit merchandise being illegally imported into the U.S. to submit a report here.
