The Year of the Dragon is approaching, and Charlottesville, Va.–based jewelry designer Ana Cavalheiro has a pair of earrings that speak to the occasion: super-cute silver and diamond-accented dragon motifs for $950 retail.

Says Cavalheiro: “I decided to have a more edgy vibe to my designs in this new collection [that debuted at JCK Las Vegas]—something that would still have the pierced metal that I love to do but that at the same time went a little bit further away from my romantic designs.

“I love dragons; I’ve been fascinated by them forever. While thinking about this new collection theme of flames and fire I thought it would be perfect to add some dragons. And the truth is that I was looking for a more rock ’n’ roll ring and ended up doing the earrings just to match.”

Since July, she has sold four pairs of earrings and three rings, most to private clients in California through her own retail shop, but a wholesale client in New York City did pick up a pair (and one of the matching rings).
