Pomellato is taking a bigger bite out of the Big Apple through its residency at Bergdorf Goodman where the Milanese fine jewelry brand showcases signature collections, led by Nudo, and one-of-a-kind pieces.
The Pomellato x Bergdorf Goodman pop-up is in the luxury store’s jewelry salon, which Pomellato’s Nathalie Diamantis considers the finest jewelry department in the States. It opened Nov. 1 and continues through Jan. 31,
“Milan and Nudo are at the heart of Pomellato’s design inspiration. The Bergdorf Goodman pop-up…represents our feminine soul and modernity, as in the Milanese architecture of the ’60s and ’70s,” says Diamantis, Pomellato’s president and CEO of the Americas.
Pomellato and Bergdorf Goodman have been partners for over a decade now—Bergdorf carries more of Pomellato’s high jewelry than any other U.S. retail location, Diamantis says. The new space expands the jeweler’s presence at Bergdorf and includes exclusive Pomellato pieces that can only be purchased in store.
Diamantis describes the Bergdorf pop-up as immersive, interpreting the look and feel of Pomellato jewelry through a retail experience. Pomellato’s head of store design and construction, Davide Caprioli, masterminded the space, and in it he wanted to highlight another example of Italian artistry: Murano glassmaking.
In the Pomellato x Bergdorf Goodman area, Murano glass tiles in a pink hue are hung together to create a kind of glass wall (pink and red are signature colors of Pomellato). Jewelry in the case beneath the tiles has colorful gemstones, to reflect the colors of Murano glass.
“A Venetian glass artisan made each glass piece to create the pink curtain surrounding the space,” explains Diamantis. “The preciousness and warmth of the space mirror the exquisite craftsmanship of each jewel. Our hope is to emotionally transport each client.”
The residency features pieces from Pomellato’s high jewelry collections such as Ode to Milan, Catene, and La Gioia. Must-see jewels on display include the Sabbia necklace and the dramatically shaped Dama bracelet.
In a statement, Andrew Mandell, vice president and divisional merchandise manager of decorative home and jewelry at Bergdorf Goodman, praised the jeweler’s residency and what it means for people visiting the department store.
“Pomellato’s new offering is nothing short of spectacular,” Mandell said. “With vision, creativity, and craftsmanship, the maison continues to deliver the kind of exceptional pieces that our clients are always seeking out. This installation marks an important chapter for both Bergdorf Goodman and Pomellato.”
It’s been a busy year for Pomellato—in addition to planning the Bergdorf residency, the brand recently acquired the Valenza Setting Lab in northern Italy.
