Marlo Laz Opens Madison Avenue Boutique for All the Uptown Girls

Within its dramatically pink walls, the newest Marlo Laz boutique in New York City reflects founder Jesse Marlo Lazowski’s global inspiration, offering both Marlo Laz brand jewelry and curated accessories from around the world.

For this second Manhattan location, the brand set up on the Upper East Side, at 965 Madison Ave. between 75th and 76th Street. Marlo Laz’s first store opened in 2019, at 373 Bleecker St. in the West Village.

“I became an uptown girl in 2021, and thus Marlo Laz needed to open uptown, too,” says Lazowski, who is celebrating 10 years in business.

Her custom work and recent collections—in particular, her high jewelry pieces, with price points above $100,000—also had her looking for an Upper East Side spot.

The new Madison Avenue store features displays of Marlo Laz high and everyday jewelry collections.

“As small as New York is, the Upper East Side to the West Village can sometimes feel like they are worlds apart, and we wanted to have a destination for our collectors uptown so they could experience Marlo Laz without having to make the trek downtown,” says Lazowski.

“We opened our first pop-up on Madison in 2022 and eventually found our perfect permanent location at 965 Madison to call our home,” she notes. “Everyone has been telling us how happy they are that we opened uptown for them.”

In the Madison Avenue shop, the cases are stocked with a selection of Marlo Laz favorites, including its signature gold medallions, charms, and chains, such as Talisman Coin necklace with its sunshine rays or the Porte Bonheur with pink tourmaline and natural diamonds. The main display shows off the new Marlo Laz high jewelry collection, Moonstruck.

Among the international accessories available at the shop—which officially opened during New York Fashion Week in September—are Kashmiri scarves, ceramics from Seville, Spain, and Brazil, and candles in blown-glass holders from Murano, Italy.

While the West Village store feels like a treasure box, in the Madison Avenue boutique Lazowski uses influences from her trips to Italy, India, and Morocco to create a sort of private haven for jewelry lovers, she says.

“I want people to feel that they happened upon this amazing discovery that they have to share with all of their friends, while simultaneously feeling so cozy,” Lazowski says. “I love that one has to walk down a few steps to get into the store, as it creates the most sensational atmosphere.”

Accessories and other objects from around the globe are available for sale along with Marlo Laz jewelry pieces.

Her globe-trotting and her interest in antique jewelry are what inspired the varied objects on display and for sale in the Madison Avenue store, says Lazowski, who attended university in Paris and has traveled extensively in India. Some of the vases for sale at the new shop are filled with fresh floral arrangements, bringing greenery and vibrancy into the interior.

The space will evolve over time with new products, events, and brands joining the fun, Lazowski says. She plans on hosting pop-ups by emerging brands and and offering a rotating selection of unique gifts and accessories throughout the year.

“I have so many talented friends with great brands, and I wanted to be able to share their work with the uptown world as well,” she says. “Thanks to the scale of the store, we have been able to host other brands as well as charity organizations, panels, and, of course, our notorious parties, which always include my sister-in-law’s caviar, CY Kitchen.”

Pink is Marlo Laz’s signature color, and both of its boutiques are painted and decorated with the color.

Lazowski says that for shoppers visiting the new store, “it’s like you’re walking into a private club or the coolest sunken living room, full of jewels, treasures, and some surprises. Somehow, even though the shop is located on Madison Avenue, it feels private—like a best-kept secret address.

“It sounds like a lot to ask, but I think we’ve succeeded in that. I want people to enter to discover and leave feeling fulfilled, inspired, delighted, and in love with their jewels,” she adds.

“Our stores are truly a gathering place—people pop in all the time to say hi. It’s such a fun mix of friends and family, clients, and collectors, and you never know who’s going to be inside. It could be a world-famous artist or my grandmother, and sometimes both at the same time.”
