Organizers of the JIS Fall show reported a “vibrant and successful event” at the Miami Beach Convention Center despite an early end prompted by the arrival of Hurricane Milton.
Held Oct. 6 through Oct. 8—closing one day sooner than planned, because of Milton—JIS Fall featured an impressive list of exhibitors and a well-attended keynote by Stanley Zale of Hill & Co. His address was followed by a panel covering such topics as holiday visual merchandising, generational marketing strategies, and enhancing customer engagement and loyalty. Panel members included Lyn Falk, CEO of Retailworks; Chae Carter of Carter’s Collective, Shea Curry of Catch Social, Constanza Viera of Diamond Tales, and Jessica Wilcox of J. Wilcox Consulting.
Memorable activations on the JIS show floor included a Puppy Lounge supported by the Miami Animal Rescue, surprise mimosas at registration, and performances by the Hora Loca dancers and Reel Ting band.
Though the Miami area was not expected to be hit hard by the storm, show organizers decided to wrap up JIS Fall early to allow attendees to secure their businesses and loved ones and avoid potential travel disruptions. Exhibitors were permitted to extend their booth hours until 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 7 to accommodate meetings and complete business before heading home.
“While Hurricane Milton required us to adjust the show’s timing, we’re proud that JIS Fall still delivered a strong event for our community,” said JIS event director Sara McDonough in a statement. “Our priority is always to provide a seamless, rewarding experience for exhibitors and attendees, and we’ll continue to do so in every show, even in the face of unforeseen events.”
JIS will return to the Miami Beach Convention Center for its spring show, scheduled for March 9–11, 2025. For more information, go to jisshow.com.
