Hancocks London Spotlights Jean Mahie With Latest Jewel of the Month

Share

Founded in the south of France in the late 1960s by sculptor Jean Mazard and his daughter-in-law Jacline Mazard, the jewelry house Jean Mahie became renowned for pushing the boundaries of jewelry design, with distinct forms and foreign influences.

Hancocks London has selected a vintage piece by Jean Mahie as its Jewel of the Month for November: a 22k yellow gold cuff with a textured finish (above). It exemplifies Jean Mahie’s bold spirit through molten, abstract adornments across its surface, creating a sense of organic movement while maintaining a solid structure.

By the 1970s—when the cuff was made—Jean Mahie had attracted high-profile collectors and luxury retailers, cementing its place as a pioneer of sculptural, contemporary, and somewhat unconventional jewelry. The brand’s pieces blur the line between art and jewelry, and its artistry with this bracelet’s finish is rooted in ancient goldsmithing techniques.

“Drawing inspiration from ancient cultures, mythology, and abstract forms, Jean Mahie’s jewelry stands apart from traditional fine jewelry of the time,” said Hancocks London’s managing director, Guy Burton, in a statement. “This vintage cuff reflects the avant-garde spirit of 1970s jewelry design and is a rare find for us. Its timeless allure makes it a must-have for anyone looking to add a unique, artistic piece to their collection.”

Priced at £38,500 (approximately $50,000), this cuff is available exclusively at Hancocks London, 62 St. James’s St.
