Jewelry e-tailer With Clarity has appointed Marie Audier its new CEO.
A native of France, Audier boasts an eclectic résumé that includes stints as chief of global and North American marketing for Coach; vice president, U.S. marketing, for Lancome; and assistant vice president at Kiehl’s. She most recently founded the Selects Gallery, an online seller of fashion photography.
Audier became With Clarity CEO in April, taking over from Anubh Shah, the brand’s cofounder and president. (Shah’s wife, Slisha, who cofounded the company in 2015, is no longer involved.)
“I’ve always been very interested when there’s major changes happening in the category,” Audier tells JCK. “There’s a transformation going on in the jewelry category with lab-grown diamonds challenging the traditional norms.
“It’s very interesting to see how new players can change customer behavior,” she continues. “It reminds me of the e-commerce revolution that happened a few years ago, in the sense that it’s democratizing the access to premium brands and redefining exclusivity. This type of market disruption brings us a ton of opportunities.”
While With Clarity—formerly called Four Mine—prominently features lab-grown diamonds, it offers natural diamonds as well.
“We feel that there’s space for both natural and lab-grown diamonds,” Audier says. “It’s really a question of customer preference. The new model is to offer both and then let the customer choose what they prefer.”
Like many in the lab-grown space, With Clarity is expanding its fashion jewelry line.
“We are growing in the other categories—bracelets, tennis bracelets, studs,” she says. “All of those categories are relatively new for us and growing really fast.”
Earlier this year With Clarity opened a boutique in New York City’s SoHo district, and Audier says it may open more brick-and-mortar stores but has no firm plans yet.
In 2022, Indian company Renaissance Global purchased With Clarity for $5 million. Audier says Renaissance is With Clarity’s “exclusive supply chain partner,” but declined to say if Renaissance still owns it.
On an August earnings call, Renaissance CEO Sumit Shah told analysts: “Our plans are to promote With Clarity globally. Currently, With Clarity is only in the U.S., and we plan to launch [it in] U.K. and India in the coming quarters.”
