Who would have thought that plexiglass could be so covetable? Few, perhaps, until one lays eyes on jewelry from 4-year-old Rosso Prezioso. Based in Milan, the firm fashions price-friendly (€60–€180) pieces in plexiglass and wood with enamel, crystals, semiprecious stones, and either a nickel-free base metal or sterling silver components (prices quoted are for the base metal). Average tickets run about €100.
The company makes new collections in accordance with the colors of the spring-summer and fall-winter seasons, and currently only exhibits at the White trade fair in Milan and VicenzaOro Winter, where it took up residence in the Glamroom with other lower-priced but fashionable designers. Rosso Prezioso sells mainly to clothing boutiques abroad and currently has no accounts in the United States.
