Britt’s Pick: Marrow Fine’s Black Diamond Thorn Tennis Bracelet

My oldest started school this week (first grade!), so while it’s still August and most definitely summer, those fall feelings are impossible to avoid.

Shoppers, too, may be finding the magic of autumn increasingly difficult to escape now—grocery store aisles are brimming with trick-or-treat candy, places like Target are starting to turn into Halloween superstores, and retailers are communicating the newest fall fashions via email and social media. It’s (unofficially) official: Fall is here.

Suddenly, the summery dresses in my closet are looking a little too brightly colored, the airy fabrics a bit too thin. Despite the fact that I would swelter and faint in flannel at the moment, I’m finding the temptation to order new pieces too much to take. Darker colors are descending, and while I’ll be singing a different tune come February, I’m welcoming them with open arms.

Which is probably what drew me in immediately upon seeing this deliciously dramatic bracelet from Marrow Fine. Black rose-cut diamonds, gripped in thorny prongs that would make Maleficent herself blush. I love the contrast of the gemstones with the warm yellow gold, a touch of autumnal splendor against the mysterious realm of the black.

“I wanted to create a truly unique tennis bracelet that you won’t find anywhere else,” Marrow Fine founder and designer Jillian Sassone tells JCK. “She is a stunner. Each rose-cut black diamond is secured in place by delicate claw prongs that look like thorns on a rose and add to the whimsy and unexpected nature of a black diamond tennis bracelet.”

Though my mind is currently on all things fall, I delight in the notion of this piece being worn throughout the summer as well, in contrast with the season’s bright and bubbly gemstones and jewels.

“I’ve seen clients wear this piece with athleisure wear, and it works. A client recently wore it to a black tie wedding, and she looked incredible,” Sassone says. “I think black diamonds offer a great deal of versatility.”

In addition to the yellow gold, the bracelet is available in white or rose gold (all 14k).
