Green has already won the summer, particularly in just the right shade that peridot offers—a cross between algae and key lime, or as it’s become known in 2024, brat green.
Peridot is often divisive; if you don’t absolutely love it, you might not like it at all. It’s a green that can be harder to love, but for those who do, it’s a full-blown obsession. This summer’s color trend has opened consumers’ eyes to what this particular hue has to offer, earning it more fans than ever.
There’s no debate, though, when it comes to the latest collaboration by peridot miner Fuli Gemstones, with Chinese jeweler Sunchin. It’s so good, it dares to make peridot everyone’s favorite gemstone.
“It is a green gemstone with sunshine, the feeling of the energy of life,” designer Sun Chin says in a video discussing her work with Fuli. And that’s a perfect way to describe peridot: green with sunshine. It’s a warm green if there ever was one, and yellow gold suits it incredibly beautifully.
The Fuli/Sunchin line, dubbed Trésors (treasures), is inspired by seashells, which are often a symbol of good luck and longevity in Chinese culture. Peridot’s mesmerizing clarity does have a look of the sea about it, and with a delicate, masterful hand, Chin has succeeded in placing it in just the right settings, allowing the gems to glow.
A theme of finding treasure also runs through the collection, its jewels representing good fortune and, when donned, blanketing the wearer in positivity and prosperity.
I can’t imagine a better representation for August’s gemstone, in all its gorgeous green glory. (All prices are on request.)
