A new feature on Pinterest enables users to share their Pinterest boards on other social media platforms as auto-generated videos.
The board sharing feature provides a link for each video so Pinners can invite users of Instagram, Facebook, and other social apps to visit their Pinterest board.
“Gen Z makes up over 40% of our global monthly users on Pinterest and are our most engaged generation, with a significant increase in the number of boards created by Gen Z Pinners compared to last year,” said Rachel Hardy, Pinterest director of consumer product marketing, in a statement. “We are enhancing the board features based on user feedback, and this year board sharing is one of our critical investments as users value the ability to share their creative processes on different platforms and find inspiration from others.”
The new feature was launched in partnership with pop star Avril Lavigne and rapper Tierra Whack, who are both Grammy nominees as well as avid users of Pinterest.
“I have been a longtime user of Pinterest, and many of my creative projects start on my personal Pinterest boards,” Lavigne said in a statement. “It helps me get my ideas straight so that when I am working with my team, everyone is on the same page. I am excited about this new way of sharing boards because the possibilities to let people into my creative process are now even easier.”
To access board sharing, visit the board you want to share (it must be public) and tap the share icon on the top right. A video will auto-generate, and you can click to “add to story” or download to share anywhere. An edit option is available to customize the video or select alternate templates. To share on Instagram, click the “share story” button—Instagram should automatically open—and then tap the stickers icon on Instagram.
