Tiffany Stevens (pictured), who has served as president, CEO, and general counsel of Jewelers Vigilance Committee (JVC) since 2017, is leaving that role for an undisclosed job in the industry, which will be announced soon.
Friday will be Stevens’ last day at JVC. Sara Yood, who currently serves as JVC’s deputy general counsel, is taking over her position.
Stevens tells JCK: “It’s been seven years, but between sanctions, lab-grown diamonds, and the FTC Guides, it feels like several lifetimes. It’s been an honor to serve our members.”
Yood has worked at JVC since 2012, serving first as assistant counsel before moving up to senior counsel and then deputy general counsel. She has extensive experience in intellectual property law, fashion law, legal compliance, anti–money laundering regulations, and responsible sourcing. A graduate of Fordham Law School, Yood held a fellowship at Fordham’s Fashion Law Institute before coming to JVC.
She currently serves as the secretary of the board of directors of the United States Kimberley Process Authority. Yood also is a member of the standards committee of the Responsible Jewellery Council and a participant in the Antiquities Coalition’s Financial Crimes Task Force.
“I’m incredibly honored,” Yood tells JCK. “I’ve seen the organization grow and change over the last 12 years. I’m excited to take on the role at a time when the industry needs JVC more than it ever has. We are going through a lot of change. People are anxious about the future. And I think that JVC continues to play a grounding role in the industry.
“Our interest is clear—it’s to level the field for the industry and raise ethical standards. We have no commercial interest. Our interest is the continued success of the jewelry industry.”
Yood’s “passion, energy, and astute legal skills, as well as her commercial understanding of our industry, will make her an excellent leader and take the JVC to the next level,” said the group’s chair, Rebecca Foerster, in a statement.
