I like to think I’m a cool mom (I’m not), so it would only make sense that my husband is indeed a cool dad (he is). And what does every cool dad need? Cool jewelry.
I’ll put this out there straightaway—I am obsessed with the concept of getting more jewelry on men. Not just watches or stainless steel chains, but jewelry—what we may have once considered, and what is still considered by many, to be “women’s jewelry.”
Take my friend (and probably yours) Manos Phoundoulakis, for example. He popped on this necklace created by Jennifer Dawes to demonstrate how it sits, when we visited with Dawes at her booth at the Luxury show in Vegas. The unexpected moment was Harry Styles–level fashion unlocked. Good stuff. You can all do this, guys!
My husband—and possibly yours?—is skeptical. Satisfied with a platinum wedding band and rubber Casio watch, he’s low-maintenance style defined. But guess what his wife has? A pretty darn good jewelry box of treasures, and I can’t wear it all in one day, ya know.
There are bead necklaces and signet rings that push the boundaries of traditional men’s jewelry, and other pieces show up (or are appropriate for) on the red carpet on the regular. So for the cool dads, and the aspiring cool dads, shall we start small? These are some of my favorite pieces to get men out of their jewelry comfort zone, and let’s hope they never turn back.
