Alan Hart, who has headed the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A) for the past eight years, has resigned as the group’s head.
The organization’s board has voted to accept his resignation. It is now conducting a search for a replacement. No reason was given for his departure.
Hart formerly headed the Earth Sciences Collections at London’s Natural History Museum before he became head of Gem-A in 2016.
Hart said in a statement: “I am immensely proud of all that we have been able to achieve, especially navigating the Association through the challenges of the last few years to where it is today—a strong, resilient, and forward-looking organization with a flourishing future.”
