Inside Freeman’s | Hindman’s Important Jewelry Sale, Starting Tomorrow

Share

Tuesday’s Important Jewelry sale is the first to be held by Freeman’s | Hindman since it was formed by the merger of two auction houses at the beginning of the year—and it’s sure to delight.

“The spring Important Jewelry auction is filled with beautiful jewelry, from a Van Cleef & Arpels floral mosaic cuff to impressive diamonds and beautiful colored stones,” said April Matteini, Freeman’s | Hindman’s newly appointed senior vice president and head of jewelry, in a statement. “The sale also contains the personal collections of two extraordinary women. I encourage collectors and jewelry enthusiasts to browse the auction.”

The Van Cleef & Arpels cuff, which is pictured at top, is made up of three plaques with a mosaic of coral, malachite, and diamonds and four plaques in 18k yellow gold. It has 2.8 cts. t.w. diamonds and goes into the sale with an estimate of $25,000 to $30,000.

Jewels from other heritage houses, including Cartier, Tiffany, Buccellati, and Lalaounis, will also be in the sale. Some of its more than 350 lots come from notable personal collections, such as that of Dr. Julian Katz and Dr. Sheila Moriber Katz of Gladwyne, Pa., and the estate of Laura Pels.
