Love Ring, Tomfoolery London’s annual showcase of alternative engagement and wedding jewelry by some of the globe’s most creative designers, kicks off April 20 at the retailer’s gallery in Muswell Hill.
Running through June 22, this year’s Love Ring brings a theme of vibrant colors, most noticeably shades of green. “Vivid emeralds feature more heavily this year, with exclusives from Ruth Tomlinson and Brooke Gregson,” says Tomfoolery owner Laura Kay. “Overall, there’s a focused love for technique and design individuality.
“Previous events have changed so dramatically each year. Last year was still very focused on deco design, but this year I’m seeing more interest in individuality again,” Kay says.
In another trend, bold is indeed back: Compared with more delicate creations of past Love Ring shows, there seem to be many signet-inspired designs and wide bands in the 2024 edition.
“As we move into our ninth edition of Love Ring, I can feel an immediate buzz for the new designers,” Kay says, mentioning two of the new participants: “Leto Lama, a third-generation artist of Tibetan and Greek heritage, [whose] jewelry has ancient finishes and kitsch modern colors and features Leto’s signature face seen in her paintings. Charlotte Rowenna, based out of Pembrokeshire, hand-carves wax in gentle swirls around tiny gemstones reminiscent of the sea and her natural surroundings.”
Below are some highlights from the Love Ring exhibit.
In addition to the designers mentioned or pictured above, participants in the 2024 Love Ring include Rosalyn Faith (new this year), Lynne MacLachlan, Momocreatura, Laura Ngyou, Emily Nixon, Eily O’Connell, Sarah Straussberg (also new), Issy White, and WWAKE. The exhibit also includes Tomfoolery in-house brands TF Art Echo, TF Bands, TF Infinite, and TF Muse.
