With demand for white metals once again on the upswing, we can expect to see them in a healthy range of styles, from staples we’re familiar with in yellow gold to larger, bolder pieces.
The statement pieces—cuffs, dangling earrings, collar necklaces—would likely be in sterling silver, allowing a big look at a more accessible price, with the option of fine gemstones or not (a nice textured silver sans gems is irresistible in such statement silhouettes). For styles we’ve been piling on in yellow gold—stackable rings, curated studs and hoops, collectible charms, layerable (or not!) pendants—the new preference might be white gold or platinum.
And then there is the one type of jewel that a white metal arguably lends itself to much better than yellow or rose gold, anyway: diamonds.
In white, sometimes it’s hard to tell where the diamonds stop and the metal begins, and that’s by lovely design. Minimal prong work and cleverly situated settings let the gems sparkle their utmost.
That describes the offerings in the new Vanguard collection from New York jeweler Verragio—an ode to the everyday, with a heaping helping of glitter. Nearly two dozen styles comprise this latest addition to the brand’s fine jewelry line, which Verragio introduced last spring after over a quarter century in the wedding jewelry space.

Vanguard’s diamond-heavy designs, which will make their official debut at the Centurion show in Phoenix later this month, take inspiration from the New York City skyline. You might recognize elements of iconic landmarks like the Chrysler Building and the Empire State Building among the pendants, necklaces, and earrings, made in glossy 18k white gold.
“We started our fine jewelry collection to allow our bridal customers to grow with us,” said brand founder Barry Verragio in a statement. “The Vanguard collection capitalizes on some of our best-selling bridal ring features like mixed cuts of diamonds, classic styling, and recognizable motifs, offering our fans and customers styles they can wear every day, along with their rings.”
With spring-like motifs and April’s birthstone as its centerpiece, the collection feels like the most splendid, fresh arrival for the upcoming season.
