Macy’s New Marketing Chief Will Bring “Retail Theater”

Share

Macy’s has appointed Sharon Otterman, a veteran of the casino and entertainment business, as its new chief marketing officer.

Otterman most recently served as chief marketing officer at Caesars Entertainment, where she launched the Caesars Sportsbook betting brand in the U.S. Prior to Caesars, she was executive vice president and chief marketing officer at the Madison Square Garden Company.

At Macy’s, Otterman reports to Tony Spring, president and CEO-elect. She replaces Richard Lennox, who left the department store company in the spring after seven years and is now chief marketing officer at AutoNation, according to LinkedIn. Lennox, who previously worked at Zales and De Beers, had become Macy’s chief customer officer three years ago.

“Sharon brings a diverse background in media, entertainment, and digital transformation to Macy’s,” Spring said in a statement. “We are excited to leverage her expertise to bring more retail theater across our shopping experiences.”
