It’s that time of year again when gifting is top of mind, for both retailers and consumers. Even those who have no plans to purchase items for the holidays may find themselves powerless to resist, whether it’s the perfect item for someone special or a lovely self-gift.
A new collaboration between two Danish companies, fashion house Baum und Pferdgarten and watch and jewelry brand Skagen, provides enticing options for gifting and self-gifting (it’s a “one for them, one for me” sort of thing).
Inspired by the fictional character Margot Tenenbaum—played by Gwyneth Paltrow in the 2001 film The Royal Tenenbaums (her style is so good we’re still enthralled with it over 20 years later)—the collection honors Wes Anderson’s signature filmmaking and celebrates Scandinavian design, two things no millennial (and perhaps Gen Zer) can get enough of.
This millennial included.
Perhaps I may indulge in a gift for myself this season? (Who am I kidding? I’ve overindulged already.) The one piece from the collection I find positively beguiling is an oversize heart-shape locket, big enough to catch the eye but not so huge you can’t wear it with everything. The piece is made of gold-plated brass and opens to enclose a special item or photo. At $80, it’s a budget-friendly buy, one that could prove a marvelous present for any assortment of family members or friends.
But one couldn’t come away from the collection without also procuring the bobby pins. Come on! You’ve got to get these bobby pins—jewels for the hair! Margot herself wouldn’t be able to resist a red and white pair of large daisies. Worn together, they’d make an especially fetching statement for the holidays.
