Cornell’s Jewelers has named Michael Cornell CEO, making him the third generation of his family to head the century-old Rochester, N.Y.-based retailer.
In addition, Michael’s wife, Courtney, will be promoted to jewelry buyer.
Michael takes over from his father, David, who began working in the store as a teenager and has headed the company since 1984. Michael’s stepmother, Olivia, has served as president. She and David will remain with the business as consultants through the end of this year.
Cornell’s Jewelers was founded in 1923 by Michael grandfather Harry.
“It’s a moment of immense pride for me to pass the torch to my son, Michael,” said David Cornell in a statement.
