Suspect From June Robbery Strikes Again
Portland, Ore. On July 24, a suspect from last month’s robbery of Rebel Jeweler returned to the scene of the crime and tried to rob the store again. The owner of the store recognized the man, who stole three rings from him in June, and called 911 immediately. The suspect fled empty handed through the fire escape before the police arrived.
Virginia Store Owner Murdered
Arlington, Va. On July 27, Tommy Wong, owner of Capital Jewelers, was killed in his store. Family members contacted police on Friday night after Wong did not return home. When police arrived at the shop, they found him dead inside the store. Surveillance footage reveals a suspect, but no one has been caught.
Suspects Disguise Themselves as Police Officers
Tampa, Fla. On July 27, four armed suspects disguised as police officers walked into Marcelo’s Jewelry and attempted to steal merchandise. Marcelo Suarez, the owner of the store, opened the door for them, and soon realized that they were not police. Shots were exchanged between the suspects and Suarez. The robbers escaped before they could steal anything. Suarez was not injured.
