Barbie x Kendra Scott Collab Shows How the Iconic Doll Still Inspires

Share

Anyone who grew up with Barbie knows this stylish doll loves to experiment with fashion and accessories, making Mattel and jewelry brand Kendra Scott a dream team for another highly anticipated collaboration.

Kendra Scott has released its second limited-edition Barbie x Kendra Scott collection, celebrating both brands and Barbie’s boundary-breaking role in pop culture, says Kendra Scott chief marketing officer Michelle Peterson.

“[Barbie] is the ultimate figure of female empowerment,” Peterson says. “She isn’t afraid to try new things while remaining authentic to what makes her unique. And of course there’s her iconic and fearless style. I think anyone can look to Barbie and see themselves within her—whether Barbie accessorized her outfit with a stethoscope or pink gemstone necklace.”

The Barbie x Kendra Scott second iteration includes a charm bracelet ($130) and a charm necklace ($98) that can include any of the Barbie charms.

Stirred by social media posts, Kendra Scott fans eagerly awaited those pink gemstone necklaces in this second go-round. The Kendra Scott brand teased the collab in customer emails, and it was clear people were ready for its debut. “The reaction to our first collaboration with Barbie was so positive that we knew we had to release a second collection,” Peterson says.

The first collaboration in November 2022 sold out, so both companies were ready to do it again. By partnering, Peterson adds, the companies also can promote values that both hold close, such as inclusivity.

The new Barbie x Kendra Scott pieces reflect customer feedback about color palettes and motifs. “Our second collection has plenty of pink, and we’ve also incorporated more silver styles into this assortment for our customers, who requested more of the trendy tone,” Peterson says. It also includes Kendra Scott’s classic Elisa pendant shape in multiple tones of pink—something longtime brand aficionados are likely to snap up quickly.

Barbie’s well-known silhouette makes these Kendra Scott drop earrings ($98) a must-have item for any fan of the Mattel doll or the jewelry brand.

This collab is not related to the Barbie movie, which comes out later this month—but it may have the perfect pieces to wear to the premiere. They include a chunky charm bracelet featuring hearts, flowers, and a Barbie high-heel shoe as well as a necklace that can carry the same charms in any combination. Kendra Scott’s Barbie earrings show the legendary doll’s profile against a pink glass background.

For Barbie fans who want something more subtle, there are hoop earrings with a pink hue and elegant sparkle. Another option are the Barbie stud earrings, which have a fun mix of blue and pink in a refined shape that Ken and Skipper probably would love.

Kendra Scott is donating 20% of the purchase price for every pair of Emilie stud earrings ($65) sold to the Barbie Dream Gap Project.

Peterson says both brands were in agreement on making sure people who wear the jewelry are heard and feel the impact of the collab in terms of giving back. “Both Kendra Scott and Barbie place great importance on purpose,” Peterson says, “so for every purchase of the Barbie x Kendra Scott Emilie stud earrings, Kendra Scott is donating 20% of the purchase price to the Barbie Dream Gap Project, which will directly support the efforts of Girls Inc. to ensure that a new generation of girl leaders grow up strong, smart, and bold.

“We want our customers to feel empowered, authentic, and like their most beautiful selves when they wear any of our jewelry,” Peterson says. “This collection is no exception and we hope our customers love the versatility of the assortment as much as we do.”
