It’s Anklet Season

Forget switching out your cold-weather wardrobe for the warm—it’s time to break out those anklets.

Not other jewel is quite so seasonal. You could wear one over tights or socks—and perhaps you should—but part of what makes the anklet so special is that it’s anticipated, like a favorite swimsuit or summery dress. It was put away when the weather turned crisp and just now is making its annual debut.

The anklet has maintained its status as the ultimate cool jewel—some may not call it a staple, but for others it’s a necessary object, one additional accessory to adorn the body. If our wrists get sparkling chains, why not our ankles?

Speaking of wearing jewels on the lower limbs—keep an eye out for a rise in toe rings: Rihanna was recently spotted with a 9 ct. pear-shape diamond on her toe, and while the average consumer won’t be going to those lengths, a simple toe cuff in sterling or gold (or even base metal) might be the thing to take a chance on as the weather heats up.
