The Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030 (WJI), a group that aims to turbocharge industry sustainability efforts, has appointed seven members to its board.
The new members include prominent industry leaders as well as sustainability experts from outside the jewelry world. They are:
Gaetano Cavalieri, president, CIBJO, the World Jewellery Federation
Anino Emuwa, managing director, Avandis Consulting, and founder of 100 Women @ Davos
Frédéric Grangié, president, Chanel Watches & Fine Jewellery
Georg Kell, chairman of Arabesque and founder of the United Nations Global Compact
Licia Mattioli, CEO, Mattioli
Raj Mehta, director of Rosy Blue
Bernadette Pinet-Cuoq, executive president, UFBJOP (which represents the jewelry industry in France)
They will join current co-chairs Cyrille Vigneron, president and CEO of Cartier, and Marie-Claire Daveu, chief sustainability and institutional affairs officer of Kering, on the board.
WJI was cofounded by Cartier and Kering in 2021. Iris Van der Veken serves as its executive director and secretary general. The board members’ bios can be seen here.
“We feel very privileged to have such an esteemed board take on this role at such an exciting time for the global watch and jewelry industry,” said Vigneron and Daveu in a statement. “The needs of consumers, employees, regulators, and other stakeholders are changing rapidly. We have a huge responsibility and opportunity to act in an impactful and innovative way, which will benefit all industry stakeholders and society at large.”
WJI also wants to appoint a board member who represents civil society. The group plans to hold regular CEO forums—its first edition will take place in Paris on June 13 and be called “CEO Leadership in the Age of Trust and Transparency.”
