Clearly I’m still infatuated with this newfound appreciation for pink.
But the bubblegum-delicious morganite at the center of LeSter London’s Bombette ring is one of many things that make it an attractive piece. The ring is basically an explosion of good features.
For starters, yes, there’s the optix-cut morganite at the ring’s center—or, rather, in the solitaire-style ring at the center of this three-ring design. “Optix is a special cut of stone, where the back of the stone is faceted by laser so that you can see extra light play within the stone—look at it and it does resemble the play of light of a firework,” says LeSter founder Aishleen Lester.
The morganite ring is platinum, the perfect choice for this shade of pink, as the metal’s ability to appear simultaneously soft and bright sets it off splendidly. “Morganite is a favorite stone of mine,” Lester adds. “I am drawn to its subtle color that sits between tones, but it is also a stone that symbolizes confidence.”
It’s the duo of contrasting bands, framing the gemstone in a kaboom of yellow gold, that proves the most intriguing: Two-tone styles have made their way back into the zeitgeist, and to be done in such a way has a powerful impact.
The ring set—sold as an engagement ring and wedding bands—is a part of LeSter’s Light the Grey collection, which combines influences from pop art and fireworks with feminine imagery, for pieces that are “strong and gentle, loud and quiet, graphic and soft,” as it says in the collection’s description.
A similar pair of jacket-style bookend bands to the ones pictured here is sold separately, in contrasting platinum and 18k yellow gold, for an alternative wedding look or for everyday wear (the morganite ring itself is available separately and would look lovely with a platinum and diamond band for the more traditional engagement ring buyer).
