Nina Runsdorf has been busy this holiday season—and it’s only the beginning. The New York–based jewelry designer recently launched a five-piece capsule collection of elevated essential jewels with Alex Eagle and the Stax Advisory, and now, she’s collaborating with longtime friend Israeli artist Nir Hod.
Although the two have joined forces before (in 2020 to create a limited- edition ring), Runsdorf and Hod first met in 2009 and shared an instant connection over their artistic perspectives.
“Art, in all its forms, is a constant source of fascination and inspiration for me,” Runsdorf tells JCK. “Nir Hod’s work is filled with intellectual layers, and his generosity of spirit and creativity is boundless. I’m thrilled to team up with my dear friend once again to introduce these colorful, provocative, and playful pieces.”
Debuting on Nov. 17 exclusively with Bergdorf Goodman, the collaboration showcases a new interpretation of Runsdorf’s signature flip rings. In true Hod fashion, the pieces explore the tension between a sense of darkness and depth, with vibrant, playfulness, using the artist’s painted eye motif surrounded by various hues of sapphires.
Working with rock crystal, the black-and-white eyes are hand-painted on each piece. The ring is set in 18k blackened white gold, and either bright pink, denim blue, or fiery orange sapphire melee. The flip side of the ring is completely covered in the same stones.
