A rivière diamond necklace from the Collection of Lord and Lady Weinstock is joining the Christie’s Magnificient Jewels sale in Geneva on Nov. 8. The entirety of the items in the Weinstock collection go on the block on Nov. 22 in London. Though the Fortune Pink 18.18 ct. pink diamond (estimate: $25 million–$35 million) headlines the Geneva sale, this 100 carat diamond necklace (shown at top and below) is not one to be missed.
Centering on a 10.33 ct. brilliant-cut pear diamond detachable pendant, the necklace’s design also incorporates a mix of brilliant-cut and old-cut circular stones in various sizes set in gold and silver. It’s estimated to sell for between $550,000 and $750,000.
The piece is part of a larger, single-owner collection from Lord Weinstock (a premier industrialist during post-war Britain and managing director of General Electric) and Lady Netta Weinstock (the daughter of Sir Michael Sobell, whose company merged with GEC in the 1960s). Lady Weinstock, in particular, was infatuated with fine jewelry and had an opulent collection of pieces evoking the Gilded Age as well as more modern ones from houses such as Van Cleef & Arpels. Along with more pieces from her collection, the Nov. 22 sale also includes one-of-a-kind Old Master Paintings (one of which is set to be sold as part of the Old Masters auction on Dec. 8 with a $2,305,800–$3,458,700 estimate), English and European furniture, and many other works of art.
