If you haven’t already read JCK senior editor Jennifer Heebner’s 12 Jewelry Trends for 2013 (what are you waiting for?), you’ve missed out on an extensive, detailed list of what to buy, sell, and stock in your store this year. And since you’ll likely want to scour the show floor for these top trends at this year’s JCK Las Vegas, I’m bringing you some of the best on-trend jewels our exhibiting brands have to offer, straight from JCK Marketplace.
Trend #3: Cabochon. A cabochon is a gemstone that has been polished as opposed to faceted, resulting in a rounded, headlike top (the Middle French word caboche actually means head), giving us the gemstone name. This particular cut typically is given to gemstones that are opaque, and hence wouldn’t be as nicely suited for faceting. But if you ask me, the unexpected is refreshing and I quite enjoy seeing stones like, say, a blue topaz in cabochon form and turquoise, typically à la cabochon, faceted. Who doesn’t like to mix it up? And while cabochon gemstones don’t sparkle the way a faceted one does, they still can be very, very glam. Look no further than these 10 alluring jewels, below.
