Harvey Owen Plays With Hues In New Sapphire Collection

September may have come and gone, but a celebration of sapphire is one we’d never dream of missing. And just as the holidays approach, the U.K.-based Harvey Owen has a beautiful new line that toasts the colorful gem in an array of geometric styles and marks the brand’s first foray into colored gemstones—Hues.

Each one-of-a-kind pendant features a sapphire collected over time by the brand’s founders, Hallam Harvey and Owen Bather. Each stone is set ablaze with a halo of sapphires in contrasting colors, bringing to life the collection’s name.

“We have had the idea for this collection for a while now but needed to know that we had the perfect sapphires to begin,” Hallam Harvey tells me. “The first of the collection was the pear rose-cut in a soft pale blue. The beautiful color and the way the facets of the rose-cut flash as they catch the light drew us in, and we were hooked.”

The collection comes at a time when customer demand for unique sapphires feels especially high, signaling a want for something classic but different—a style to stand the test of time while also standing out.

Between the bewitching colors and beguiling cuts, Hues is undoubtedly a holiday hit. But how does one possibly select a favorite? “Everyone has a different opinion—that’s what is so fun about this collection,” says Harvey. “My favorite is 006 (shown above). The sapphire is a portrait cut and a beautiful blue hue. The yellow sapphire halo just disappears into the gold and glistens as you move.”

As for Owen Bather, Harvey’s business partner and husband, his favorite is pendant 001 (pictured at top). “He loves the kite-cut yellow sapphire in the center, offset against a soft pink sapphire halo. The 18k yellow gold adds to the richness in color of the gemstones and whole piece sparkles in the light,” Harvey says.

The collection launched officially on Sept. 26, and pieces are available to ship just in time for the holidays.
