The Fortune Pink (pictured), considered the largest pear-shape fancy vivid pink diamond ever to go up for auction, will be sold at Christie’s Magnificent Jewels Auction, held Nov. 8 in Geneva.
Christie’s presale estimate for the 18.18 ct. gem is $25 million to $35 million.
Prior to this, the largest vivid pink diamond sold at Christie’s was the rectangular 18.96 ct. Winston Pink Legacy, which was purchased for $50.3 million by Harry Winston in 2018, setting a world-record per-carat price for a pink diamond sold at auction.
In a statement, Christie’s noted the diamond’s weight translates to “definite prosperity” in Asia.
“With its auspicious weight of 18.18 carats this exceptional pink diamond of phenomenal color will certainly bring good fortune to its new owner,” said Rahul Kadakia, Christie’s international head of jewelry, in a statement.
In an interview with Agence France-Presse, Christie’s senior jewelry specialist Angela Berden said that “the diamond has remained in [a] private collection for many years, and it’s now looking for a new owner to continue its luck.”
The diamond is “really rare,” she said. “I wouldn’t know where to find another one.”
The Fortune Pink will be first presented to the public at Christie’s New York the week of Oct. 3, before touring to Shanghai, Taiwan, and Singapore.
